What Does Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil Mean?

Our products at Medical Marijuana, Inc. are made with Real Scientific Hemp Oil, our full spectrum hemp oil, carefully derived from specific cultivars of hemp that contain an abundance of cannabinoids. Full spectrum hemp oil is the unadulterated extract of the hemp plant, including all its active compounds, like cannabinoids, terpenes, nutrients, and more. 

Many people are familiar with cannabidiol (CBD), which is found in highly concentrated amounts in our products, but there are actually dozens of cannabinoids found in hemp, which have shown many benefits in studies. We choose to make all our products with full spectrum hemp oil, which includes all of the cannabinoids found in the plant, so you don’t miss out on any of the benefits. In fact, according to one theory, these active compounds work synergistically for greater end effects. 

In addition to the dozens of cannabinoids, which you can learn more about below, full spectrum hemp oil is a great source of essential vitamins, minerals, Omega fatty acids, flavonoids, chlorophyll and terpenes.

On a molecular level, all classes of cannabinoid are derived from the cannabinoid cannabigerol (CBG) before being synthesized into various other cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are changed from their original acid forms by decarboxylation through heat, light, or alkaline conditions, allowing them to interact fully with the endocannabinoid system. CBD: Cannabidiol

The most abundant cannabinoid in hemp oil, making up over 90% of the cannabinoid content, cannabidiol or CBD is non-psychoactive and is the focus of the benefits from hemp oil. CBD has little affinity for CB1 or CB2 receptors, the main points of interaction for cannabinoids in the endocannabinoid system, and instead acts as an indirect antagonist of cannabinoid agonists, possibly allowing CBD to temper the properties of THC. Our Gold Label RSHO is almost 25% CBD, making up most of oil’s weight. All other cannabinoids come in under 0.4% by weight.

CBG: Cannabigerol

Cannabigerol is known as the stem cell cannabinoid for its role as a precursor to other cannabinoids found in hemp and marijuana. Previously overlooked as a significant cannabinoid, the role of CBG is becoming better understood, and companies like Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s AXIM® Biotechnologies are starting to research its potential. Because most CBG is transformed into other cannabinoids like CBD or THC by the cannabis plant, natural CBG levels are low in most processed cannabis plants.

• CBGA: Cannabigerolic Acid

 

THC: Tetrahydrocannabinol

Tetrahydrocannabinol is the most abundant cannabinoid in most medical and recreational marijuana strains. However, in hemp THC is a minor constituent and appears only in trace amounts under 0.3% by dry weight, as required by the U.S. government for hemp products. THC mimics the action of anandamide, a neurotransmitter naturally produced in the human body, and binds to CB1 receptors in the endocannabinoid system found mostly in the brain. The extremely low levels of THC in hemp make hemp oil non-psychoactive and safe for all ages to use.

• THCA-C4: Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid C4

• THC-C1: Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabiorcol
• THC-C4: Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol C4
• iso-THC: iso-Tetrahydrocannabinol

 

CBN: Cannabinol

Cannabinol results from the degradation of THC. There is little of it in the fresh plant, but decarboxylation often raises the amount of CBN in the plant as an effect. CBN is only mildly psychoactive and has a higher affinity for the CB2 receptor than the CB1 receptor, linking CBN to the body’s immune system. In hemp oil, CBN is present in levels of 0.2% or lower.

• CBND: Cannabinodiol

 

Other Minor Cannabinoids:

Along with the primary cannabinoids and their variants, there are a number of minor cannabinoids in full spectrum hemp oil whose benefits have not yet been thoroughly studied. Even in low quantities, these cannabinoids interact with our native endocannabinoid system, and are present in our hemp oil.

• CBC: Cannabichromene
• CBL: Cannabicyclol
• CBT: Cannabitriol
• CBE: Cannabielsoin
• CBR: Cannabiripsol
• DCBF: Dehydrocannabifuran
• CBF: Cannabifuran
• CBCN: Cannabichromanon
• CBT: Cannabicitran

 

Other Acidic Cannabinoids:

Like THCA and CBDA, there are other pre-decarboxylated forms of cannabinoids present in cannabis. Once exposed to heat, light, or alkaline conditions, these cannabinoids lose a carbon atom and take their common form. These cannabinoids are present in our raw forms of oil that have not been decarboxylated.

• CBCA: Cannabichromenic Acid
• CBLA: Cannabicyclolic Acid
• CBEA-A: Cannabielsoic Acid A
• CBEA-B: Cannabielsoic Acid B
• CBNA: Cannabinolic Acid

 

Cannabinoids with the suffix -varin:

These cannabinoids differ in length from common cannabinoids, replacing the typical 5 carbon chain with a 3 carbon chain.  These cannabinoids can also be found in small amounts in our full-spectrum hemp oil.

• CBV: Cannabivarin
• THCV: Tetrahydrocannabivarin
• CBDV: Cannabidivarin
• CBCV: Cannabichomevarin
• CBGV: Cannabigerovarin
• CBLV:Cannabicyclovarin
• CBVD: Cannabinodivarin
• CBTV: Cannabitriolvarin

 

These acidic versions of -varin cannabinoids are non-decarboxylated.

• THCVA: Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabivarinic Acid
• CBDVA: Cannabidivarinic Acid
• CBCVA: Cannabichromevarinic Acid

 

Ether Cannabinoid Forms:

• CBGAM: Cannabigerolic Acid Monomethyl Ether
• CBGM: Cannabigerol Monomethyl Ether
• CBDM: Cannabidiol Monomethyl Ether
• CBNM: Cannabinol Methyl Ether
• CBTVE: Ethoxy-cannabitriolvarin

By formulating our products with pure, full spectrum hemp oil, we ensure that all the cannabinoids naturally found in the plant are in the hemp oil you buy from us.
